In the field you would either do work on a residential property or commercial property, or maybe for public infrastructure. Your duties include figuring out property lines and boundaries, as well as construction staking for things like curb, utilities and buildings. Surveyors work with cutting edge equipment like robotic total stations and LiDAR drones. Office surveyors work on CAD software to calculate positions for the field surveyors, and to check the field survey data for accuracy and then prepare certified survey maps of the results.
