Typically forensic technicians work in diagnostic labs or the crime scene after the crime has been committed. There it little danger in these jobs. The detectives are out in the community asking questions, visiting the crime scene and can place themselves in dangerous situations. Most crimes are such that detectives are rarely in danger.
