    What would you recommend I do at this point to get into this field?

    Check into the post-secondary educational requirements and curriculum. Make sure you are taking high school courses that help prepare you for a rigorous program study. In most cases there is an entrance exam required for acceptance into a post-secondary program.

    I would recommend that you visit with your local vet and see if you can job shadow with him/her. Volunteer at a local rescue shelter for experience as well.
