    Watching City web sites, some Police Department have web sites, Minnesota Post Board, League of MN Cities.

    1st off stop watching “cop shows”. The best way is to see if your local organization has a civilian volunteer program. Many times these programs can give you a first hand look at how a department operates. Also request to do a ride along. You will get a good understanding of a typical shift a police officer or deputy experiences.
