Is looking into this job a good idea to overcome being really scared to talk to people?

I think it would be important to do a job shadow with a social worker before you decide if this is the career for you. There are different types of social workers, from who work with families and children to those who just work with the elderly. Shadowing will allow you to see the variety of jobs within the career.
